Engagement Photos on West Shores Lake outside of Omaha Nebraska

Tyler and Kenzie. This session was straight out of a summer dream. From snuggling up on the dock to laughing nonstop on the boat, every moment felt so effortless and full of love. They are the most beautiful couple and the golden hour glow over the lake only added to the magical feeling.

Why is West Shores the Perfect Spot for Summer Engagement Photos in Omaha, Nebraska?

At West Shores, you’ll find everything from sandy beaches, to lakefront views, to beautiful sunsets, which make it a stunning location for engagement photos. Whether you’re going for a romantic, intimate feel or a more playful, retro vibe, this lake truly has it all. And if you really love the lake vibes, you could even get married here at A View West Shores!

But West Shores isn’t the only lake worth considering in Omaha! If you’re looking for a slightly different summer vibe, Lake Zorinsky and Standing Bear offer beautiful natural scenery with a bit more greenery. Both locations still have that peaceful water aesthetic, plus the option for a fun paddle boarding or boating adventure to add a little extra fun to your session.

A Few Tips for the Best Lake Engagement Photos in Omaha (or wherever you are)!

  1. Get That Golden Hour Glow- plan your session around when the sun will be setting! This is the best time of the day to get that dreamy, golden lighting in all of your photos.
  2. Be Cute and Comfy- Think flowy dresses, a casual summer outfit, or even a cute swimsuit and cover up. Make sure you wear something that feels like YOU. Bonus points if it has a bit of texture and flow to it.
  3. Don’t Be Afraid To Move- gone are the days of all posed photos with you standing still and smiling at the camera. Be prepared to run along the beach, splash in the water, and paddle along the shore. We will be sure to bring out your personality and help your photos come to life.
  4. Come Prepared with an Activity or Two- whether it’s popping champagne off the doc, cozying up on a blanket for a picnic, or roasting marshmallows on the shore, it is always good to have something to do! Maybe you and your love love a good boat ride, or maybe you’ve always wanted to have a campfire date… do something authentic to your relationship and something that you will love doing with your love!

Tiny humans walking down the aisle are adorable—but beyond the cuteness, flower girls and ring bearers add a layer of sweetness, personality, and connection to your ceremony that adults simply can’t replicate.

Austin and Sadie’s engagement photos at the Joslyn Art Museum were an absolute dream to capture and easily some of my very favorites of 2025. They are the kind of couple who radiate joy and love everywhere they go, and that energy translated so beautifully into their photos.

One of the best ways to ensure your wedding day feels calm, joyful, and true to who you are is to create a thoughtful wedding day timeline.
