From a chance encounter in an apartment hallway to a magical wedding day in Omaha, James and Stacie’s Durham Museum wedding was a romantic, joy-filled celebration of love, and laughter.
“We first met when I mistakenly slammed the door on you, I felt terrible that I didn’t see you behind me.”
It was a rom-com romance from the very start. Apartment neighbors finding love just next door.
“The first time we spoke at our apartment pool party, I walked away thinking, whoever ends up with that guy is going to be a lucky woman.”
James and Stacie met in their apartment complex and it quickly became a love story, a few years later they tied the knot on a windy Nebraska day.
Stacie lights up every room she walks into and her getting ready space at the Marriott was glowing from all the joy, laughter, and excitement she brought with her. Her closest friends and family celebrated every moment with her as she prepared for her big day. Her mom zipped up her dress and her two, very sweet and very adorable, nieces helped her put on her heels.
The ceremony and reception took place at the iconic Durham Museum in Omaha, the perfect backdrop for the couple’s art deco-inspired wedding. Before the ceremony, their friends and families mingled and laughed as a string quartet played. Their wedding planner, Gabi, from Unfolding Events, did an incredible job making the day run seamlessly, every one of James and Stacie’s dreams organized and carried out to a T.
Stacie’s walk down the aisle was grand, dramatic, and absolutely stunning. During their vows, they told the story of how they met and fell in love. They stood in front of their friends and family as they made promises to each other and shared the sweetest first kiss!
As cocktail hour began, we snuck outside for some portraits. James and Stacie are the most beautiful, adorable couple… We had the most fun taking portraits as the storm rolled in! We headed inside for dinner just as the rain began to fall. Guests were having the time of their lives, hanging out on the trains and sipping signature cocktails, all of which were named after their pets.
Then, it was time for a party and the weather must have known it too. The sky cleared, and a gorgeous rainbow stretched over the Durham Museum. Of course, we had to run outside and grab a few portraits underneath it. If rain on your wedding day brings good luck, a rainbow during your reception must mean something extra special!
After a quick round of portraits, James and Stacie got the party started with a choreographed first dance. They showed off their skills as their people cheered them on. Then their friends joined them on the dance floor and the DJ got the party started. Shout out to Brent Crampton with Alternative Djs because he knew how to get people on their feet!
We danced, we sang, this wedding really was a blast. No one was left off the dance floor.
As the night ended and the guests began to leave, Stacie and James shared one last dance. A romantic way to end a truly incredible day.
